Meet Dr. Orozco

Dr. Orozco is a bilingual Neurosurgeon specializing in brain, spine and peripheral nerve conditions. Fellowship trained at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson Mississippi, he brings extensive training in both open and minimally invasive spinal and cranial surgery. He is originally from Guatemala City where he completed his Medical School and graduated first in his class of 257 students.

He is proud to serve the communities of North Texas by offering a conservative surgical approach matched with unsurpassed patient care. Dr. Orozco and his team are passionate about delivering scientific and methodical surgical and non-surgical techniques to optimize patient outcomes. Patients can expect compassionate care delivered with respect and accountability.

“My approach to surgical intervention is to “proceed with caution. Surgery is an invasive endeavor, which should be addressed with mutual trust and respect between surgeon and patient. Therefore, when considering surgical treatment, conservative measures should have been exhausted prior to any surgical consideration.”

Excellent neurosurgeon whom I have been since year 2018. I'm here today for a follow-up on accident last May 2025 . Dr Orozco is an awesome neurosurgeon whom no neurosurgeon [I saw two which my 1st neurosurgeon at Columbia, SC recommended that I have Dr Orozco and the 2nd one agreed ] will do any surgery in Columbia, SC that I was approved. He is one top notch neurosurgeon known in the DFW area, TX.

Today was not a good day for the patient. We waited for over 30 minutes to be seen. Not a typical order of business.
Kind, he took the enough time to answer all my concerns. Excellent professional
Summary: Incompetent doctor and staff, made condition worse, lied about referrals. Do not trust this business under any circumstance, they will hurt, not help you.

This is perhaps the worst managed business I’ve ever encountered. My mother had 3 pinched nerves and 2 bulging discs and started being seen here in 2024. She was told by Dr. Orozco she needed to do pain management and injections before surgery could be scheduled. Since she lives 3 hours from the office, she was repeatedly told that she would be given a referral to a place closer to her, but they kept sending the wrong referrals over (or “forgot” to send them…) and she never got her appointments. This happened weekly over the course of 2 months, eventually causing her to give up. Given a lack of options without extended wait times, and with increasingly worsening pain, she went back. At this point, she was told by Dr Orozco, without any apology, that she mostly likely had another disc slipping, and he ordered a new MRI for her and told her she urgently needed surgery. Since she lived 3 hours away, they scheduled the follow up appointment for when she would be in town next and the ladies at the front desk ensured her they were sending her MRI stuff to an imaging place in Paris, Texas. Just like the year before; they sent it to the wrong place (or just outright forgot) and my mom called back multiple times, once a week for a month again, and was told each time they would correct their mistake and send it over to the correct place. Now they’ve failed again, she has no MRI appointment, and can’t make the follow up on March 11th because no MRI has been ordered. She is in tremendous pain and just setting up the appointments and driving the 3 hours has been incredibly difficult. Now she needs to start all over and find a new neurosurgeon which will take months. This is not a trustworthy office, and please think twice before entrusting your health to them.

Original review below. This place has changed a lot in 5 years. I have a great relationship with them now. Some of the staff has changed and some are the same. Some good, some are just ok. I haven't had a bad experience for a long time.

I will say that only thing that really needs improvement is the dealing with workers compensation people. Nobody likes them because they are training to cause harm not good to those they represent. However, I was in desperate need of an MRI for an injury that has caused me pain for 6 years now. Workers comp just wanted to talk to Dr Orozco and he has a policy that he wont talk to anyone of the phone. His staff won't even take the requests to him.

Unfortunately his policy ultimately cost me to have permanent nerve damage and the inability to ever work my career again. Thankfully I didn't get fired and I was put behind a computer to work so I still get a paycheck, but I will be in constant pain every day the rest of my life.

It also cost me thousands of dollars when I finally got the MRI on my own and the surgery as well because Workers Comp refused to cover it. I could make an argument that in my case his policy could be considered a violation of the Hippocratic Oath, but at the end of the day the dude knows his stuff and he is damn good! ...as long as you dont need him to make a phone call.

The Dr and his PA are both great, patient, and knowledgeable. However, the same cannot be said for the office staff unfortunately. They tend to be short, standoffish, and borderline rude, especially the office manager. If you need a note stating what could have caused an injury for your employer...this ain't happening. Getting any other types of notes from them is equally difficult. I am pretty sure that they try really hard to stay out of legal proceedings (who wouldn't?) even if it causes further harm to the patients physically and mentally.

Great Dr if you have a straight forward thing, but if it gets complicated expect them to be extremely unhelpful.

I definitely Do Not recommend this Dr. First I had an appointment for 2:30pm. I didn’t see the Dr until 3:35. On top of that all of the chairs that have for you to sit on are a piece of cloth around the bones of the chair and do nothing but aggravate your back. Secondly, his asst at the other office had previously ordered an MRI after having seen my cat scan. My ct scan which is best for bones and joints showed 2 fractures in my back and a bulging disc a month ago. I am always in pain and uncomfortable. He shows the mri to me and tells me everything is perfectly fine, while I’m sitting there in extreme pain. Then he starts reading the report, telling me see there’s nothing. Then I pulled up the same report on my phone and started looking over it too and then he changed his story and said well you do have some arthritis in L4 and L5. Whenever I said anything, he had a standard answer of physical therapy and pain meds. If there’s nothing wrong why would he recommend pain meds and physical therapy? I declined medicine because it’s obvious he doesn’t care or know what he’s talking about. Go somewhere else if you want actual care because all he wants to do is make you believe nothing is wrong and in the same breath offer pain medicine. That’s to keep you coming back to him while your bones are getting worse. Pitiful!

I had my appointment today. I am happy to report I was made to feel welcome when I arrived. All of the staff were patient and informative. The doctor was absolutely wonderful. He greeted me with his name and shook my hand. He sat in front of me and looked at me, not a computer. He had an assistant who worked the computer. He answered all my questions and explained the plan for my care.
He made me feel like I was his only patient. I look forward to my next visit.

Office staff has always been awful the 3 years I have been a patient, but Dr. Orozco came highly recomended. After back surgery, where he went through the front and back of my body, I had to wait over 5 days for Brittany to give me a refill on pain medication. For the last 3 years I have had to fight his staff for referrals, meds, questions to be answered by the doctor, etc. Dr. Orozco always had great bedside manner until this last visit where he wanted to preform another surgery (which I was open to). Then told me I'm not motivated to get better after ignoring my medical chart. I've had 6 joint surgeries (both hips, shoulders, back and hand) in 3 years only to find out my joint pain and numbness in my hands and feet is due to fibromyalgia. Ive literally have tried everything to get better for my 3 & 4 year old. He won't be seeing me again.
